Next up, the mirror part. I bought a sheet of two-way acrylic mirror. This stuff is seriously cool – lets light through from one side but acts like a regular mirror from the other. I carefully cut it to size (measure twice, cut once, people!) and mounted it in front of the monitor. Looking good!
Now, here’s where things got interesting. Getting the mirror and the display to line up perfectly? Near impossible. There were always slight gaps or weird reflections. I spent a whole afternoon adjusting and re-adjusting, trying to get everything just right. It was a total pain, but eventually, I got it to a point where it was… acceptable.

I wanted the time, the weather, and a feed of my upcoming appointments. Figuring out the right modules and getting them configured just so took another chunk of time. After all that, I finally had a working smart mirror. Was it perfect? Absolutely not. Was it a massive time sink? Definitely. But did I learn a ton and feel a sense of accomplishment? You bet! And let me tell you, waking up every morning and seeing my personalized info on the mirror is pretty darn cool.
